The discography of Trinidadian-born American rapper and singer Nicki Minaj consists of two studio albums, three mixtapes, forty-six singles (including twenty-eight as a featured artist), ten promotional singles and forty-five music videos. After becoming involved with music and acting in high school in New York City, Minaj eventually picked up rapping. She was discovered by American rapper Lil Wayne and signed to Young Money Entertainment—a subdivision of Cash Money Records with distribution through Universal Motown Records—in 2010. Minaj’s first commercial success as a solo artist came with the release of her second single, ‘Your Love’, which peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, an achievement that made Minaj the first female artist to top the chart unaccompanied since 2002. Her next three singles, ‘Check It Out’, ‘Right Thru Me’ and ‘Moment 4 Life’, all became top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Minaj’s debut studio album Pink Friday was released in November 2010, topping the US Billboard 200. The album has since been certified platinum by both the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The album’s eighth single, ‘Super Bass’, peaked at number three on the Hot 100 and reached the top ten in multiple other countries, including Australia, Canada and the UK. From 2010 to 2012, Minaj appeared on multiple Hot 100 top ten singles as a featured artist, including ‘Bottoms Up’ by recording artist Trey Songz, ‘Make Me Proud’ by rapper and singer Drake, a remix of ‘Dance (A$$)’ by rapper Big Sean, ‘Turn Me On’ by house music producer David Guetta and ‘Give Me All Your Luvin » by recording artist Madonna. Minaj released her second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in April 2012. It topped the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded also entered the UK Albums Chart at number one, making Minaj the highest-charting female rapper in the chart’s history. The album’s lead single ‘Starships’ peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a top ten hit in multiple other countries.’Pound the Alarm’ peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also became an international top ten hit; ‘Va Va Voom’ became a top 40 hit in countries such as Australia, the UK and the US.
